AUTISM, ASPERGER SYNDROME AND RELATED DISORDERS The next workshop will be held in term 4.
Autism, Asperger Syndrome and related disorders are now known to exist on a spectrum. At one end of the scale are severely affected individuals, and at the other end of the scale are relatively mildly affected individuals. The more mildly affected have Asperger Syndrome, High Functioning Autism or mild Autism. Many people who have the milder conditions are not yet recognised or diagnosed; this can impact negatively on their life chances. With proper recognition and help these individuals will have a much better life.
Jen grew up with Asperger Syndrome but was not diagnosed until she was 43. While studying at Auckland University Jen attended a lecture where she recognised her condition. She was diagnosed, completed her BA and then wrote a book on Asperger Syndrome. www.aspergers.co.nz
This workshop is suitable for parents, family members, teachers, aides & caregivers. |
